Works in Progress

In Adult literature, Elizabeth has individual poems on submission and is refining a collection for chapbook consideration, while continuing to submit articles for freelance work.

In Children’s literature, Elizabeth has a number of manuscripts in-progress and out on submission, ranging from: meta-fiction, holiday stories, beginning chapter books, board books, fractured fairy tales, friendship and relational stories, whimsical tales, and coping with loss; to poetry and science collections, as well as individual poems.

 

2021 Writer’s Digest Poetry Award Winner

February 2022 brought a wonderful surprise in the form of a notice that Ms. McBride’s poem, “Awakening,” was included among the 2021 Writer’s Digest Poetry Award Winners!

 

Reading and Signing Events

On December 14th, 2022, Elizabeth participated in the Landscapes of Poetry Holiday Reading hosted by Jack Ridl. Click on her Blog page (above) to read the poems she presented!

On July 27th, 2022, Elizabeth participated with 16 poets in the Launch Event for “Busy Griefs, Raw Towns” at Schuler Books and Music, in Grand Rapids, MI.

On May 26th, 2022, Petoskey, Michigan celebrated its Big Read selection of U.S. Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo’s “An American Sunrise,” with an evening of readings, music, and an Open Mic time at the Crooked Tree Arts Center Theatre. Ms. McBride read from “An American Sunrise,” “Most Beautiful,” and several new works, including one from the anthology edited by GF Korreck, “Busy Griefs, Raw Towns.”

April 27th, 2022, Elizabeth presented “Poetry in Children’s Literature Today,” for the Kalamazoo Area Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators “Shop Talk” event. This was a virtual event and was made available to all SCBWI-MI members.
